UMTS Wireless Internet

Universal Mobile Telecommunications System, or UTMS, is one of many new “third-generation” wireless data transfer bands on the market today. Its purpose: to provide high-speed wireless internet so that voice, picture, and even video can be sent and received on a PDA phone or smartphone. UTMS is based on a standardized GSM communications system, and is implemented in some markets.

Pretty soon, UMTS and EVDO (another third-generation wireless band) will become the standards in data transfer technology. Today’s mobile phone market is fast developing into a full-service multimedia smorgasbord. Today’s most powerful PDA phones and smartphones are equipped with digital cameras; some can even shoot video!

Faster and Shareable

Sending and receiving emails through a PDA phone is one thing. For those purposes, no more than a 56k GPRS connection is needed. But to send and receive pictures and video, faster wireless speeds are required. UTMS wireless internet is capable of speeds up to 2 megabytes per second, speeds that put many existing broadband lines to shame. If you can receive that kind of power from your mobile phone or aircard, there would be no need to continue your DSL or cable service.

Aircards and UTMS-enabled PDA phones are available from our company. One of the best things about third-generation devices is their ability to double as local area networks, or LANs. By connecting to the Internet through an aircard, you can share the signal with any computer on your network. Two MB per second is more than enough speed to connect up to a dozen home computers.
